Iconic Landmarks
When creating new areas in an upcoming DLC, landmark models play an important role in adding to the authenticity and immersion of a driver's experience. For many, these points of interest are important locations, especially when you want to confirm your location. Today, we are happy to share with you a gallery of iconic landmarks from our upcoming Iberia DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
ENVIRONMENT
Deserts of Iberian Peninsula
A Fistful of Dollars, Winnetou Return and Once Upon a Time in the West; these are all famous movies that are based in wild wild west of America, featuring traditional cowboy shootouts and close-ups of squinting eyes (yee-haw!). But did you know all of these Eurowestern classics were filmed in the hot and dusty deserts of Spain?
INDUSTRY
Fruit, Crops & Farms
The growing of fresh fruit and vegetables is an important industry for Spain and Portugal, so much so that both countries are among some of the largest producers and exporters in Europe. From oranges to avocados, Iberia provides the ideal growing conditions and space for farms to grow a wide variety of crops, fruits, and vegetables.
INDUSTRY
Iberian Energy
The Iberian Peninsula is the second largest European peninsula by area; with an estimated 53 million residents, the demand for electricity is more than ever before. So what are Spain and Portugal doing to make sure that there is enough energy for everyone? One of the many ways they are achieving this is by using modern energy sources instead of using traditional ones such as coal to generate electricity.
INDUSTRY
Olives
Next time you are cooking up a meal and you add a dash of olive oil to your pan, take a quick glance at the back of the bottle, as there is a good chance that it was produced in Iberia! Spain is renowned for producing some of the best olives in the world, which are then used for both for making olive oil and for eating as delicious table olives.
INDUSTRY
Car Industry
In 2015, Spain produced 2.7 million cars which makes it the 8th largest automobile producer in the world and the 2nd largest car manufacturer in Europe. As our team continues to work on Iberia for Euro Truck Simulator 2, we couldn't miss the opportunity to represent this important industry.
INDUSTRY
Ports of Iberia
With nearly 5,000km of coastline, Sea Ports in the Iberian Peninsula play an incredibly important role within the economy. Shipping, fishing and ocean tourism are some of the peninsulas' largest industries, and as a result, Iberia is home over 65 ports that serve ships traveling across the Mediterranean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean.
CITIES
Porto
We are taking a closer look at the Portuguese city of Porto. Located in the beautiful Douro valley surrounded by famous vineyards, it's a place with a rich history dating back to the 4th century. For drivers, however, it is best known as the central commercial and industrial hub for the north of the Mondego River. So what can drivers discover in the city of Porto in our upcoming Iberia DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2? Let us show you around!
CITIES
Coastal Cities
With over 3,000 km of coastline, a majority of Iberia's largest cities and population are located near or next to the sea. With temperatures soaring into the 40's during the height of summer, the coastal breeze is nature's air-conditioning, keeping residents cool during the hottest months.
CITIES
Barcelona
With mountains on one side, the sea on the other, and an exciting urban hub in between, Barcelona offers so much to experience for tourists and residents alike; and the same goes for truckers too! Offering drivers sunshine, scenic views, and a large variety of industries to deliver to and from, this city seems to have it all.
CITIES
Architecture & Villages
From narrow streets to old churches and impressive castles, Iberia is home to numerous historic villages and towns. No matter where you are traveling across the peninsula, you'll be sure to see a wide array of different architecture. In our upcoming DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, our teams have researched and created new buildings and assets to best represent the most commonly found architectural designs in Iberia.
ROAD NETWORK
Truck Stops & Gas Stations
Iberia is enormous, measuring at over 580,000 square kilometers, truckers have a seemingly endless amount of road to drive on. Through mountains, cities, and forests, drivers often seek refuge from the sun and take the time to rest for the journey ahead at suitable rest areas and designated gas stations designed for truck drivers.
