Part of the reason why we chose to extend the gameworld northeast was to increase the variety of the views along the road. We were looking for a change, and the Baltics are definitely very much unlike the previous Italia DLC. There are vast areas crisscrossed by the road network between larger cities, and we do our best to emulate the experience of driving on these roads with the local architecture and small villages.

Baltic Landmarks
We are bringing you a sampling of various landmarks and recognizable places from the upcoming ETS2 Beyond the Baltic Sea map expansion. Unique landmark models always add a lot to the authenticity and immersion of the experience. They make the locals super happy that it was "their" place that got some love from the developers, they are a proof that we try really hard to capture the spirit of the region.

Postcards from Finland
Finland is one of the many new countries featured in the upcoming DLC 'Beyond the Baltic Sea'. You will be able to drive through the more populated southern areas, where you can explore Finland's largest cities, industrial centers and where most of the Finnish population live. At this time, Finland is one of the most northern areas you can drive in the world of Euro Truck Simulator 2.

We have another confirmation that Something Is Cooking™ in ETS2: Beyond the Baltic Sea. We have shown you several border crossing buildings in a previous post. This time we are going deeper inside the new area.

This is a follow-up to our previous article about new industries coming to the Beyond the Baltic Sea map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2. We would like to share more insights into the variety of industrial installations that you will encounter while on deliveries; these are just some of the custom "prefabs" that our 3D model team is creating.
INDUSTRY
Baltic Ports
The Baltic Sea connects the countries of the upcoming Beyond the Baltic Sea map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2, it is even the basis for the name of the DLC. Seaports are a key part of freight and logistics of the region. They also play an important role in our ETS2 world expansion.
CITIES
Saint Petersburg
We'd like to focus on the biggest city in the upcoming ETS2 game expansion Beyond the Baltic Sea. Saint Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia with over 5 million inhabitants. Its size and its location on the Neva river just at the head of the Gulf of Finland proved to be a difficult task for the map design team.

The countries which surround the Baltic Sea feature many beautiful coastlines, forests, and mountains. They are also home to many different species of wildlife such as whales, deer, and wolves, but these are not the only living creatures to inhabit these countries.

Border Crossing Prefabs
Beyond the Baltic Sea, the new DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 that we are working on now, will be one of the largest and most complex expansion regions. The area we plan to cover is vast, and it involves parts of five different countries. This is an additional challenge for us with all the various regional differences, like road signs, or the local industries.

Dozens of new cities, towns, ports and villages, new industries, thousands of kilometers of roads await. You’ll drive through vast swathes of low lying, verdant landscape, dotted with relics of past ages, as well as stark reminders of the great upheaval of the last century. For the first time you will drive into Russia and visit the great northern metropolis of Saint Petersburg. Going further, you will enter populous and industrially rich regions of Finland, where you can enjoy the unique experience of driving efficient High Capacity Transports.
